Just before Christmas kicked in, me and my best friend Hannah went to see the Seven Dials Christmas light switch-on in London. We’re both local to London at the moment so I met with her after she finished work nearby. We had a lovely evening but just before we got ready to go, we got ushered into a shop by a lovely lady who worked for Sakare. Sakare is a brand I’ve never heard before but I was intrigued to hear and see the sales pitch she had ready for us. Later on, her manager who took over the consultation told us it was her first week, so she definitely worked her magic as we went in and came out as customers. Hannah was the first one to cave after she ended up buying this nail file that I kid you not, made her nails look as though they’d had a maincure. It was like magic happened in front of us and then they did a few ‘deals‘ for us and go us the body lotion free for Hannah. I got sold the body scrub and then got the body lotion for free. The other night, I had a relaxing evening in with Sakare and thought I’d tell you about the two products I got and whether either is worth it’s value for money.
Sakare is a company that has been going for a while now and has a few shops around London and beyond the UK. It’s got mixed reviews because I think their sales pitches were at times misleading for the customer. Some have said that they felt pressured into buying something that they didn’t want but unless they’re threatening you, then you have the ability to say no to something you don’t want to buy. For us, I definitely got wift of the sales pitch as soon as the lady outside brought us in but being from sales and retail myself in the past, I thought I’d entertain it because who knows, I might like what I see?
The nail file was impressive but for me, I currently get my nails gel powdered or acrylic, so I don’t really have a use for it. The manager took over the consultation to show us the deep cleansing salt scrub and this is where my experience shifted. The Deep Cleansing Salt Scrub is made up of sea minerals from the dead sea and it’s combined with swert almond oil that states it’ll buff away dead skin cells to reveal baby-soft skin. The manager said the same thing and he warned us that we’d be impressed by the results. He took a small amount of the scrub which he placed on top of the shower foam. He combined the two and then scrubed it onto one of our hands. Hannah went first and as soon as the water washed off the salt scrub, there was a look of shock. I was wondering what all the fuss was about but then he did the same for me and my skin as the softest I think I’ve ever felt in my life. It was so sleek and soft that I was a bit overwhelmed – I think we both were to be honest.
The scrub itself costs £44.99 but I got it for £25.00 as a new customer. *SALES PITCH 101. However, discount aside, I think the salt scrub itself is very rich and decadent in how it feels on the skin. It’s not too abrasive and the results speak for themselves. That sweet almond oil also coats your skin and helps to lock in that moisture that is lost throughout your body on a daily basis. It’s a perfect shower products for the winter, especially for my skin.
Now the second product that I got free which was the Hand & Body Lotion, I would say isn’t any different than any other body lotion I’ve tried before. It doesn’t really stand out any differently and I think the £15.00 price tag for the Indulging Hand & Body Lotion is a little too high. It’s not as pricey as some others can be but again, I wasn’t gobsmacked as much as I was with the body scrub, when I tried it. Both of the products came in the fragrance Passion which smells incredible. It’s definitely a great selling point from a product and I did find that the scent of both the scrub and lotion lasted for a while after I applied it on my body.
Again, the body lotion is rich in plenty of ingredients but for me, it just didn’t really compare much to anything I usually use. However, it’s important to note that I’m not always one to apply or smoother myself, for want of a better word, in body lotion after a shower or bath anyway. As a whole, I think the experience at Sakare was a pleasant one and I think when I run out of the scrub, I’ll definitely be asking my friends and family for some more. The scrub is quite a dense tub and it apparently lasts for eight months, so that should be just in time for my birthday!
