When you think of luxury skincare, fragrances and home decor in London, one of the most recognisable brands is Jo Malone. Established in 1983, the brand has since been bought by Estée Lauder. This is something I certainly wasn’t aware of and have always thought it’s been in the hands of Jo Malone herself. However, now that I know, I realize why it’s so popular. For my birthday, I got a beautiful Jo Malone candle from my fiance, as well as a trio of luxurious handcreams. I’ve been a customer of Jo Malone before, having bought fragrances for both my mum and my nana. It’s a lovely treat that I wanted to give to the most important women in my life. So what are my thoughts on the handcreams?
I got three fragrances in total. These were Lime Basil & Mandarin, English Pear & Freesia and Peony & Blush Suede. The Peony & Blush Suede is also what I got in the candle form too. What I love about the Jo Malone fragrances is that there’s a scent for everyone. No matter what your preference, whether you love citrus scents, fruity or musky, going into a Jo Malone store and findind your perfect scent is really fun to do.
This handcream collection costs £46.00 and that consists of three fragrances all with 30ml of product in there. It’s a standard size for a handcream and one that easily slips into your handbag or purse for on-the-go hydration. The packaging is so pretty, designed by British artist Helen Beard. The design is quintessentially London and I love the cartoon sketch detail that has gone into it. Reminds me a little bit of Roald Dahl’s sketches.
Lime Basil & Mandarin
So what are the fragrances like? Lime Basil & Mandarin is a very envigorating scent and one that I would likely use in the mornings to help wake my body up. What I really like about these handcreams is that they don’t feel greasy and its quick setting that I can just apply it and not worry about getting it all over my keyboard or smearing it on my handbag or phone. This fragrance leans towards the more soapy scent but the aromatic citrus notes really elevate it. The fragrance of lime is the one ingredient that I think you can really smell instantly and then the other scents support it. Overall, this is a mainly citrusy themed scent and one that I think would definitely work the best in terms of a handwash in your bathroom.
Peony & Blush Suede
The Peony is what stands out with this handcream and for some reason, I feel really nostaglic when applying this scent. I think it might be to do with perhaps a scent that is used with the older generations and perhaps my nana or my late great auntie used to wear. But that isn’t to say it’s specifically for those of a certain age, because it has a very youthful vibe to it. There’s also some other scents like Jasmine that I can smell in the cream and so this is going to be one that I feel will stay by my bedside table to apply just before I get off to sleep.
English Pear & Freesia
And finally English Pear and Freesia. Wow, this scent really stands out for me. It’s a very comforting smell and I love those fruity scents of the pear and I believe there’s a bit of apple in there somewhere too. It compliments the floral smell of the Freesia too and I think it’s one I definitely will have in my handbag for a while. It’s such a refreshing fragrance and one thing about the Jo Malone handcreams is that they stay smelling wonderfully on the skin for hours on end. A definitely nod to how beautifully made these creams are. You are certainly getting your money’s worth.
