As I approach the big 3-0 (and that sounds bloody terrifying), I’ve noticed changes within my skin that are definitely a sign of aging. Although a lot of older women would roll their eyes, looking after your skin needs to happen before the affects of aging happen, not after it’s too late. So when you’re in your mid to late twenties, a good skincare routine is essential. I definitely suffer from puffy eyes and that redness or dark circles underneath the eyes can be a pain to keep concealed. Here are some tips to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes.

Drink Lots Of Water
Water is essential for your skin because it’s needed in order to keep it hydrated and looking it’s best. I know when I’ve not drank enough water because my skin feels dry and it doesn’t have that usual glow that it has when I’ve drank lots. Try to drink more on a daily basis and incorporate more water or mositure-based skincare products into your routine. The more moisture and hydration you can get into your body, the better you’ll look and feel.
Get Plenty Of Sleep
Sleep is something I do not get enough of and that definitely shows when it comes to the area underneath and the eyes itself. Increasing the hours of sleep each night can be important and regardless of whether you’re a night owl or a morning person, it’s good to be having the same amount so that your body gets into a routine. Catch up on sleep when needed and listen to your body. You’ll know when your body needs sleep, so allow that to happen.
Use A Concealer & Highlighter Pen
For me, the best thing to use when it comes to concealing puffy or tired eyes is a concealer and highlighter pen. I usually have the YSL Touche Éclat Highlighter. This is really good for putting under and around the eyes because not only does it work as a concealer, it highlights the area too. This can really help with giving that eye area a bit of life on days where your usual foundation and concealer doesn’t really do it justice.

Cool The Skin Using A Jade Roller
I recently got myself a Jade Roller through a beauty subscription box and I’ve started using it when I can remember on my face. A good way of using these is to put them in the fridge so that the stone goes really cold. This can then help cool down the puffy areas of your eyes, just like an eyemask would. I don’t know to what extent it works on tightening your skin but it’s definitely something worth incorporating into your moisturiser and how you apply that. You might see a difference after a while.
Use An Eye Cream
One of the things I’d like to get for the eye area is an eye cream. It’s something that a lot of beauty bloggers and those in the industry recommend and I think I’m going to get myself the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream or the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I’ve heard good things about both of these and I think it’s one thing that’s missing from my current skincare routine at the moment.
