Cel MD | Science In Haircare

I recently got the opportunity to collaborate with a company called Cel MD on my other blog UpYourVlog for a festive gift guide. I’ve now been using their products for the last few weeks and I wanted to do a little write up on here because I would consider this to be part of the higher-end beauty market in terms of haircare. Cel MD are a company that provide a range of beauty products to help with the challenges we face when it comes to our hair and skin. A goal for me in 2020 is to get my hair down to the length it was before I cut it short. It was around my chest area and I wanted to grow it out for my wedding in 2021.

I got sent the Microstem Shampoo and Conditioner Duo and a set of Microstem Hair Stimulation Formula. I’ll go into all of them in a little bit more detail but as a starting point, all their products use a range of natural ingredients paired with science and patented technology. What drew me to picking these specific products were partly to do with my hair growth goals but also because my hair lacks volume. I have straight hair and although that’s a benefit that others would love to have, it means my hair falls pretty flat without any product. I find that when my hair is curly, it holds the product better but when it’s not, it doesn’t. I hoped that by using the shampoo and conditioner combo, I would get the thicker feeling in the hair and more volume.

Both the shampoo and conditioner come with their own pump and a screw top lid. I opted to use the screw top because for some reason, the formula of the shampoo product was too thick and gloopy for me to pump it through. I don’t know whether this might have been just an issue with this specific one as the conditioner worked fine. Both these products are recommended to use together. After using the shampoo, my hair did feel a little dry to the touch. I think on reflection this might be due to the ingredients taking effect on the hair follicles to create that feeling of thick and lucious hair. The scent was a pleasant one and once I’d finished off with the conditioner, my hair definitely feel more glossy and hydrated.

There was definitely a difference in the way my hair looked before and after. The hair looks a lot shiner and the feel of my hair straight after is that feel of thickness, which was weird to experience for the first time. It’s almost like my hair had magically grown extra strands of hair. When I used it for the first time, I was attending a wedding so I blow dried and then straightened my hair. There was a noticeable difference in the volume and therefore I didn’t use any additional styling products. The Microstem Shampoo & Conditioner Duo is priced at $55.95, which works out at around £42.00. You get 236ml, which is a lot less than what you’d get in your usual high-street store. However, no other shampoo or conditioner has really created an instant effect like these did on my hair.

The one that I’m really excited to use over the long-term is their hair stimulation formula. It comes in a pack of four with each tube having 15ml in each. A little goes along way as I dab a couple of drop around each area of my head and then massage in as instructed.

I don’t know about you but there’s something oddly satisfying about getting out of the shower, your head is warm and then you’re pouring cool liquid into your scalp. It’s heaven to me and the formula smells really good. The product is meant to help those with thinning hair and to reduce hair loss. I wanted to use this in order to give my hair follicles a little boost as we all know that getting older means everything takes longer to heal or grow. The Microstem Hair Stimulation Formula costs $66.95 for the starter pack and that works out at around £51.00. Definitely on the pricer side so I will use the full pack and then report back on just how effective it is. At the moment, I’m using it everytime I wash my hair.
