In our home, we don’t have an colour on the walls. Our picture frames are black and white, but I do plan to get some coloured options up soon. We didn’t do anything to our walls because they were perfectly fine and were brand new. What’s the point in wasting a blank canvas? Instead, I opted for colour in different forms and one of those were plants. Plants are great for the home, they lift your mood and you can never have enough of them. When we get our next home, I want to have more and at least one in every room. Here’s how you can add colour to your home with plants.

My office desk, which I talked about recently is where all of my work is done. Granted I do often find myself slipping onto the sofa or bed every now and then but the desk is where most of my empire operates from. The plant I have on my desk is the newest of the bunch and I do plan to feature some shelves above the desk at some point over the next few months. It’s amazing just how quickly plants can grow and this one is filling up it’s pot very nicely. All of my plants bar two are from Patch Plants and I highly recommend them.
When choosing plants, make sure to think about the colour theme going on in your room and then the type of light and humidity it has. This can affect the plant’s growth and how much it’ll need watering. I have one in the bathroom that I think has sadly died but I’m spritzing it every day and hopefully it’ll come back to life.
I think one of my favourite plants is this Snake Plant (pictured above). I think it’s virtually killable and I love the gorgeous thick leaves it produces. I think the colouring of this one is beautiful too and it goes well with another plant I have which both sit in my living room.
There’s a few more plants that I’d like to get for my apartment. I think one would go nicely in the spare room above my desk as mentioned, perhaps some hanging ivy. For the bedroom I’d really love something for the vanity table and maybe a hanging one opposite our bed. The living room probably needs a couple more spaced around the kitchen and the hallway currently needs one too.
I’m a bit plant obsessed but I love it. It brings so much natural colour to our home and not to mention, it makes you feel so good too internally. It’s worth giving them a try and see how you get on. Remember, there’s plants out there for everyone, even myself as someone who forgets to water them has managed to keep them alive.
Do you have any plants in your home yet? Let me know in the comments below and any recommendations you might have.
