It’s been a long time coming but I’m finally set up with a home office, even if it’s in a spare room. I don’t think I’ll get my own proper office until we move but as soon as we do that, I’ll be dedicating a whole room and using it like a studio for my blog business. But for now, I’m happy with my set up here. I thought I’d share with you a few snaps of my home office and some of the essentials that are necessary when it comes to the workspace.
Firstly my iMac was the biggest investment I made into UpYourVlog and I’d be lost without it now. It’s so much better to see everything on a bigger screen and I just love how quick and efficient it is because my old Macbook Pro of several years was definitely slowing down. I knew I wanted to get the Apple’s iMac for ages because I feel it just excels all the other desktop computers for me and I like how it’s all controlled through the actual monitor. There’s no bulky tower that comes with it and that I’d have to keep below me by my feet.
The office desk is from a company called Maisons Du Monde. I try to buy from companies that are more unique in what they sell, rather than all the generic sites that sell similar stuff. I believe though that this is a brand incorporated in Debenhams. This desk is the Solid Fir and Metal Industrial Desk and although it was quite expensive, again it was an investment piece. I didn’t expect though for the wood to be bare without any varnish or sealant on it. This for me was a little disappointing, only because I don’t want to spill anything on it. I might try and figure this out myself and get something to seal the wood.
As I recently got a new Macbook Air, I want to get a stand for this so I have the option to work from two computers, the future goal is that this desk eventually gets replaced by a bigger one and I attach a second monitor so that have two big screens to work from. I’m still after a mousemat and I’d like one with some wrist support. I’d also like one for the keyboard. My office chair is from Amazon and is the Songmics Office Executive Chair. It’s such a comfy chair and I feel nicely supported, particularly for my lower back and shoulders.
My plans for the rest of the office is to have my clock up and storage above the office desk. A whiteboard might be a good idea or something where I can do some brainstorming.
