Making Life Easier With Amazon Echo & Dot

Technology is all around us and it’s not going anywhere soon. We rely on it more and more in daily life and we definitely struck gold when it came to purchasing our Amazon Echo & the Amazon Dot near the beginning of lockdown. Our friends have them and we were jealous at how easy it made their lives, whether it be linking it up to their lighting throughout the home or setting timers to help with the cooking. We definitely thought we could benefit from getting some of our own and so we purchased ours from Currys a few months back.

The Amazon Dot is a cute little device that fits perfectly on the side table. We decided to get it in a light grey to suit the rest of the bedroom’s colour scheme. One of the benefits of this Amazon Dot is the time display on the front. And although time is something we have readily available on our phones and watches, when I have access to neither, I find myself looking towards the Dot to check the time.

To use both devices, we need to download the Amazon Echo app and this helps the user control a range of features that these devices have. There are thousands of different mini-apps and functions within the device that you simply download and it then enables said function onto the devices. Some of the first ones we got was a home spa playlist and access to Magic Radio, simply by saying ‘Play Magic Radio’. We’ve not explored the extensive range that this dashboard provides but you can set routines for each of the devices and link them up where needed.

With the Amazon Echo, we decided to place this one in the kitchen and hopefully by Christmas this year, we’ll have a side unit that sits opposite our kitchen and can be where the device sits. Currently, it rests on top of our bread bin but I’m worried it’s too close to the hob and might get clogged up with debris and grease if left there.

The volume buttons on these devices are quite substantial and I love that you can play music everywhere in the apartment if needed. As our apartment is fairly small, two devices are enough but I think once we get a bigger place, we’ll want to get more. The cost of these devices I would say is fairly affordable. We get almost daily use out of them and so it’s definitely been worth the expenditure for us. You can get the Amazon Echo for £89.99 and the Amazon Echo Dot for £54.99. They both pretty much have the same functionality, the only difference being in their sizes. I think the Amazon Echo Dot would work better than the Amazon Echo in places like your bedrooms and any office spaces. The Amazon Echo is perfect for your living room and kitchen.
