Incorporating serums into my skincare routine has been a slow progress because sometimes I find it hard to keep up with a skincare routine in general, never mind adding on an extra step to it. However, I’ve seen the benefits that serums provide to my skin and so I wanted to share with you the benefits of them and my top five serums to use. If you don’t use serums at the moment, then I definitely recommend you give them a go as part of your routine.
Every serum that I have is a little different to the next and does something specific for my skin in general. So I though I’d break it down and explain what each serum does and how it affects my skin in a positive way. Some of these might be ideal for you, where others aren’t. There are some serums and acids in particular that I can’t use because I have somewhat sensitive skin.

SkinChemists London – Caffeine 5% Serum (RRP – £39.90)
Starting off with with a fairly new serum, this is a product from SkinChemists London. Caffeine for the skin gets me excited because like my coffee in the morning, it wakes me up. And so I wanted this product to be something that gives my skin a bit more life to it. The serum is formulated to help with the appearance of the skin’s texture and penetrates deep into the skin in order to give that more youthful glow. As someone in their late twenties, the signs of aging are best to stop before they’ve even begun.
I absolutely love this serum because it smells really nice and two to three drops is all that’s needed to cover the face. It’s not something that’s going to sit on the skin for too long and I find that within a few minutes, the serum has completely soaked into the skin, ready for makeup.

The Pro Co – Eye Serum (RRP – £9.99)
The Pro Co was a brand I worked with over on UpYourVlog and I got a set of three. This was one of the serums that I think drew me the most at first because it helps
with the eye area. I tend to have a lot of under eye issues from redness to prominent veins and heavy bags. This formula contains natural ingredients that helps with
fighting wrinkles and helps boost circulation in the blood to help fade away pigmentations and dark circles. And it’s such a bargain too that I feel like I’m getting good results for my money.
It has a mixture of ingredients from Cocoa Butter, Seaweed Extract and Grape Seed Oil. I have seen a difference in the eye area since I started using it and will continue to do so until I run out!

The Ordinary – Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2% – (RRP – £5.80)
Acids are a little different but I still consider them to be serums in a way because they’re all liquid form. The Ordinary is a brand that I love not only for their skincare but also their makeup. With acids, they’re popular because they’ve been used in professional treatments like chemical peels and facials in general. Now there’s an opportunity for us to be able to do in the comfort of our own home, albeit a much lower percentage of the acid.
The Lactic Acid is a gentle exfoliator for the skin and I love using this when my skin is really having a hard time and mostly when I’m a little stressed out at work or in life. It also helps to reduce the signs of inflammation on the skin which is important for my redness.

The Ordinary – Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (RRP – £5.90)
What I love about The Ordinary is how affordable their skincare is and not only that, it’s all made up of ingredients that have been well sourced and clinically formulated. What the Hyaluronic Acid does for my skin is penetrates deep into the layers of the skin and helps to provide hydration and plumpness. It’s a lightweight serum that has a boost of vitamin B5 to leave the skin feeling softened and strengthened.
It’s one of those products that has become a cult beauty buy and has a huge following.

Amelia Moss – Intensive Daily Defence Serum (RRP – £25.00)
And finally onto Amelia Moss, this is another gifted collaboration back with UpYourVlog. The Intensive Daily Defence Serum is one I apply most mornings when I don’t use the others. It’s a gorgeous serum that takes a moment to dry down but is efficient in the way it helps my skin stay protected for the rest of the day. I also have the night version of this one too.
It uses a combination of natural extracts that gives the skin effective protection. It helps protect against weather conditions that are harsh on the skin and also UV damage.
What do you think of these serums? These are some great options if you’re wanting to add anything to your current skincare routine and to provide an effective result for your skin type. Whether it be for daytime protection, eye rescue or a gentle chemical peel, serums are useful to have in your beauty collection.
