Knee-high boots are something I’ve avoided ever since I got a cheap pair of them online – I can’t remember where exactly. The problem with these boots was that they had a fairly chunky heel which made me even taller than I already am. But the main issue was that they’d full down my leg if ever I wore them with tights or bare-legged. They had no grip and so I just never wore them. Fast-forward to my last birthday when I turned 27 – yikes, and I was looking for some knee-high boots again. I knew I wanted some that were going to last for a long time and that actually stayed up this time. ALDO is one place I’ve never shopped in before but they are well-known for doing some gorgeous footwear that is moderately priced. I knew however that when I bought the boots, I’d be getting value for my money.
Boots are a staple for the average British person because we end up having so much wet weather that our feet rarely see the sunshine. Being able to get a pair that were going to last me for a while was important to me and I knew that I wanted the suede effect as I’ve had faux leather before and that can end up wearing a lot quicker from experience. Black was the preference because it’s a colour that will go with a lot more outfits than brown or grey. And with that in mind, I set upon my quest to find the best all year round boots. ALDO was one of the last stores that I visited and having not really found anything to my taste, I was losing hope. That was, until I came across these.
These Winrich Black Women’s Over-the-knee Boots cost £100 and it’s probably the most I’ve ever spent on a pair of shoes. When trying them on, they didn’t have a size 8 (I know – boat feet over here) and only the size 7 was available. I wasn’t sure that they would fit and when trying them on they felt a little tight but only around the width of my foot. I asked the assistant whether the shoes would stretch and she said she bought a pair herself one size too small and she worked them in until they were comfy.
I would say it took a few times to wear them until they felt comfortable. They’re not the easiest shoes to put on because of the zip and having to get the material straight to zip it successfully. However, once they’re on, they feel so comfortable. I got some shoe spray to protect the material and so I’m doing this every so often in order to protect them from weather damage.
I’m really happy to have taken the plunge with these boots because I definitely think they’re worth the price and they’re going to last me a good few years or so, depending on how well they hold their firmness in regards to the material. I would also definitely shop with ALDO again as they have some beautiful footwear!
