My makeup bag often changes so what is featured in the post now, might change over the next month or so. I often change things up depending on where I’m going or what products I’m currently reviewing. I thought it would be interesting to show you what I tend to use quite frequently at the moment and a few throwback products that I’ve been recently using again and forgetting how much I loved them!
I got my makeup bag from a Birchbox subscribtion and I’m obsessed with how gorgeous it is and the quality that has clearly gone into making it. It’s made out of this gorgeous blue velvet and then has a rose gold sequinned star on the front with a matching rose gold zip. It’s big enough to keep in all of my essentials and so without further ado, let’s start with the basics. I’m starting off my makeup routine at the moment with a Vitamin C Repair Serum from Balance M. It’s a nice zingy serum that helps provide my skin with a bit of hydrating hyaluronic acid and it helps to minimise the appearance of fine wrinkles. It helps provide a bit of a radiant glow to the skin and it absorbs into the skin fairly quickly, which is always a positive for me.
The base products are a mixture of liquid and powders. I use the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter Primer (£32.00) and apply this to my cheekbones and forehead, pretty much anywhere where the light naturally hits and reflects off my face if that makes sense? I blend this in usually with a beauty blender. I’m loving the combination of The Ordinary Serum Foundation (£5.70) and the Note Cosmetics Perfecting Conclear & Highlighter Pen (£7.85). The shades are perfect for my skin and I love that the perfecting pen is the perfect light shade for providing a bit of brightness under the eye.
For setting my base, I use the shades from the Hourglass Unlocked Ambient Palette (£56.00). The lightest shade is the best for just setting the foundation and concealer. I love using the blush and highlighter from this palette too. For bronzer, the Hourglass palette is a little too dark for my skin tone but I do use it when I’ve fake tanned. Therefore, I love the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette (£49.00). The highlighter in this duo is a little too subtle for me but the bronzer is the perfect shade for contouring.
In terms of eye products, I’ve come back to the basics with Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette (£21.00). This is one of my first and most favourite palettes because it’s such a gorgeous selection of shades. The browns are my favourites and it’s reminded me that I need to actually try and use all of the pans out of this palette. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade (£19.00) is my all-time favourite eyebrow product. It’s pomade that’s buildable on the eyebrows and is the perfect shade for my dark eyebrows. It lasts for such a long time and I recommend spraying a small amount of setting spray into the pomade first to get it wet and workable. I’ve also been using the Model Co Clear Brow Gel ($14.00). I’m in a mixed opinion regarding this product. because it’s good for keeping the brows in place but I don’t like the feel of it when it dries. It reminds me of hairspray.
For the rest of the eye looks, I’ve been trialing the Ciate Stamp & Drag (£15.00) which is actually really impressing me. Considering my favourite all-time eyeliner is the Soap & Glory one, this is a great way of getting an easy wing eyeliner look. I’m also trying the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara (£19.00). It’s a deluxe mini version and so I’m pretty happy with the results it provides, but it’s nothing really that special.
I think when it comes to makeup brushes, I need to invest in some new ones. I’ve had these for years and although I’ve added some to the collection, I definitely could do with a whole new set. These Real Technique brushes though have done me well over the years. I tend to have a couple of lipsticks in my makeup bag but the only one I had in after this weekend just gone was the McoBeauty Long Lasting Lipstick (£12.00) in the shade Flawless. It’s a gorgeous shade and it’s too full coverage which I like for spring.
