There are so many ways that you can give your eyes some definition with the power of makeup. The problem is that all of the mascara, liner, contour, shadow, and highlight can get really confusing, and if you’ve never had anybody teach you how to put makeup on, you may feel like you’re in the weeds a little.
You want to make your eyes stand out, and whether that’s switching from your natural brown eyes to using blue contact lenses, and whether that’s using a blue mascara instead of using your regular clear mascara to lengthen your lashes. You can make your eyes pop in just a few moves.
Below, we’ve put some tricks down for you to help you to learn how to keep your eyes standing out so that everybody notices your peepers before anything else.

1. Attend an eye makeup tutorial. Often, salons will put on beautician nights where you can go and speak to a beautician to help you learn what to do with your makeup.
Makeup artists can teach you how to navigate all of the eye makeup options, and while it can be tough for some people, there are so many times that you’ll appreciate the fact that you’ve had somebody teach you how to do it. If you know where each type of makeup goes, you’re going to find it much easier to do it yourself at home.
2. Curl your eyelashes. If you want to make those peepers stand out, then you need to make them big and bold. Curling your eyelashes is going to help you to define your eyes and truly open them up.
Always use the curler before you apply any makeup though, so that you don’t pull out your lashes.
3. Don’t just stick to one mascara. If you really want to make your lashes stand out, then use two different formulas. Use one mascara for thickening and one for lengthening.
You can move the brush of the thickening formula at the base of the lashes to build fullness and that helps to fully cover the route. You can then apply the lengthening mascara from the middle to the tips and add a little extra to the outer lashes for that flare that you’re looking for.
4. Disconnect the top and bottom liner. A good way to make your peepers pop is to make sure that you are not connecting the top and bottom eyeliner. If you leave a gap, you can create that illusion that they are bigger and bolder. A nude eyeliner can help with brightening up your eyes as well.
5. Consider the shade that you’re using. Black eyeliner is a classic, especially if you have light eyes, but colorful mascaras can help you feel extra adventurous and it can look great.
You want to make your eyes pop, so choose a colour that complements your eyes. Darker coloured eyes will always be complemented by a neutral or natural shade.
