Gold has very quickly become a feature colour for my living space. It’s always been a material or colour that screams wealth but a lot of the time, you can fake that luxury when you’re living on a budget or for me – who’s saving for a wedding. When you’re adding gold to a space, you want to aim for a more brassy, warm option as opposed to a harsh yellow of gold. Think about the little details, rather than getting a coffee table that’s gold, for example. Our coffee table has brassy gold legs and the top of it is grey with glass on top.
One of my favourite buys for the home was our clock. It’s a huge one that sits in our dining space and covers pretty much the entirity of the wall. It’s a focal point to the space and you can see it as soon as you walk through the door of the hallway. That rusty orange gold contrasts so nicely with the black framing of the clock and our neutral cream walls.
From our windowsills to the coffee table, gold tones can be found everywhere. I love quirky things so these three little brass monkeys are so adorable to me. The gold-mirrored tray from Zara and the gold and marbled coasters all compliment each other really well.
I would say that my living space is getting to the place that I want it to be but I still want to put up a gold framed picture above the television, add some shelving and have a few cream coloured throws to help tie in the cream colour of our walls.
