Coping With This Heatwave | Dyson Hot + Cool Fan

If you’re from the UK, then you’ll know the recent weather we’ve experienced here is definitely not normal. It’s a worrying sign that climate change is affecting the temperatures and that even the seasons have started to shift. One of the things that I and my partner really wanted to get this year was a fan. We live in a beautiful apartment but it’s roasting because it’s an old building and we’re on the top floor. It doesn’t do well when it comes to ventilation. With that being said, we decided to invest and invest we did in the Dyson Hot + Cool Fan.

We’re big fans of the Dyson products and have a cordless hoover that we’ve had for over two years now and has definitely helped us to keep our apartment nice and clean. The Hot + Cool Fan from Dyson is one that I have been drawn to for a while and we decided to get the desk one instead of the tower because our bed sits fairly high up in relation to where the tower fan would have sat.

We bought it from Currys and it cost us £399.00. I think with Dyson products, they’re a lot like Apple in that you’re paying for both the brand name but also the long-lasting quality. We know that this fan is going to last a long time and so we were more than happy to make that extra investment. I think one of the best features of this fan is that it comes with both a hot and cool setting. The cool setting is great for this time of year where we’re sweltering in this heat and the hot function means we can heat up specific rooms we’re in without needing to use our heating to heat up the whole flat.

The fan has certainly had to battle with this extreme heat and if I’m going to make one criticism about this fan, it’s that the cool air isn’t exactly freezing cold. I think if it could be a little bit cooler in the air it pumps out, it would make this heatwave a lot easier to deal with. That being said, there are some great functions to the fan. You’ve got the choice of how powerful it churns out the air from 1-10 and you can also time how long you have it on for so that it’s not eating through your electricity 24/7. There’s also the option to alternate between two fan blowing functions. One is more direct and the other spreads the air out wider. I definitely prefer the direct one as it’s great for targeting that one section of space where you need it.

Overall, I’d definitely give this fan a solid 8/10. I think where it lets itself down is the cool function not being cold enough to keep up with the extremely hot weather we’ve been having over the past week or so.
